CambridgeHOK recently renovated a Victorian conservator glasshouse.
Originally constructed in the late 19th century and rebuilt again in 1930, the Victorian conservatory had fallen into a state of disrepair after previously being used to house reptiles. Now, it now provides a useable space that visitors can enjoy all year round.
Creating a new focal point for a historic Hull park took months of planning and careful consideration, but all the effort was worthwhile once the 185 m2 glasshouse was unveiled with its visually-striking 6.4 meter-high lantern roof.
Designed to replicate the building it has replaced; the modern build retains its links to the past through the use of original cast iron supports as a decorative feature.
