China’s total electricity consumption reached 828.2 billion kilowatt-hours in March, representing a 4.8% increase compared to the same period last year, according to data released by the National Energy Administration.
A breakdown by sector reveals the following:
Primary industries — including agriculture, forestry, and fishing — consumed 10.6 billion kWh, up 9.9% year-on-year.
Secondary industries, primarily manufacturing and heavy industry, used 557.8 billion kWh, a 3.8% increase.
Tertiary industries, which cover the service sector, consumed 148.4 billion kWh, rising 8.4%.
Residential electricity use totaled 111.4 billion kWh, up 5.0% from a year earlier.
