Popular sizes are a393, a142, a252, a193, and d49 as well as many others.
1. D49 Wire Mesh
D49 ‘wrapping’ concrete mesh, which is primarily for screed reinforcement due to its lightweight (100mm x 100mm aperture) construction.
2. A142 Mesh(6mm wires)
We have A142 rebar mesh, which is the lightest gauge ‘A’ spec concrete reinforcement mesh you can get, with 6mm steel rebar and 200mm x 200mm apertures. Commonly used for 100mm thick light use panels such as pathways, driveways, and garage bases.
3. A193 Mesh
Slightly larger diameter welded mesh, welded with 7mm rebar. It is suitable for both trails and driveways as well as heavier boards. In light-use applications, a single layer of fabric may be used, but in heavier jobs, two layers are used “top and bottom”
4. A252 & A393 Mesh
Both types of reinforcing mesh are of a higher specification and are commonly used for heavier 150-200mm thick slabs. Both are suitable for medium use, single or double layered (using rebar spacers), and are mostly used in driveways and extension areas (sometimes in conjunction with foundation reinforcement cages).
5. B385-B503-B785-B
Type B Reinforcing Mesh is mainly used as a fabric for reinforcing concrete slabs, walls, and other structures. Type B Reinforcing Mesh, also known as structural mesh, consists of 10mm lengths welded to 8mm cross bars. Manufactured to BS / standards, they are certified products and fully CE marked.
6. Flying end mesh
Benefits of flying end mesh: Accurate coverage, shorter laying cycles, less waste, more flexibility, and lower costs. Flying Ends are areas at the edge of a sheet of mesh reinforcement that only have bars oriented in one direction.
The dimensions mentioned here refer to the diameter of the reinforcement, as for the area you can calculate it yourself (we can cut the mesh on request if needed), for smaller loads, such as passages, it is not necessary to use a reinforcing mesh, proper concrete is enough.
For more information, please visit A252 Steel Wire Mesh.
Concrete driveways for general use carry up to large SUV sized vehicles, which would only require one layer of A193 reinforcing mesh. However, if you wish to carry larger vehicles when they are in close proximity or several vehicles, then the A252 specification is required.
For an average home garage, 2 layers of A252 are excessive, usually for loads up to kg, only the lowest specification A193 mesh is needed, but it is better to add an extra layer of reinforcing mesh, properly spaced, or just use a layer of a higher grade of reinforcing mesh, such as A252 reinforcing mesh fabric. It is best to consult a professional, you are welcome to contact me.
At Wanzhi Steel, we offer a wide range of mesh sizes, including A142, A193, A252, A393, and even B-size structural mesh (B503, B785, B). We stock all types of meshes (standard and commercial sizes) in large quantities, and we also offer customized rebar cutting and bending services, as well as the prefabrication of steel cages, columns, walls, and floor beams. Avoid middlemen and order directly from Chinese factory suppliers.
We also produce Steel Reinforcement Bars, Steel Reinforcement Mesh, GI Concrete Mesh, and GI Steel Grates.
