At the 2024 China Photovoltaic Industry Annual Conference, held in Yibin, Sichuan, Honorary Chairman of the China Photovoltaic Industry Association, Wang Bohua, provided an update on the country's solar product exports.

From January to October 2024, China's export total for photovoltaic products, such as wafers, cells, and modules, reached approximately28.14 billion, marking a year-on-year decline of about 34.5%,with a month-on-month increase of 7.4%in October, reflecting a continued trend of "lower prices, higher volume."

Wang Bohua detailed the export structure, noting a decrease in the export value share for wafers and cells, while the share for module exports increased. After a Q3 decline, exports of wafers, cells, and modules experienced a resurgence in October. India, Turkey, and Cambodia stand out as the top three destinations for cell exports, with shipments to India remaining robust.

Europe retains its position as the largest market for module exports, although its market share has diminished. Other regions, including South Asia, Latin America, and the Middle East, have significant market shares. The diversification of module export markets is pronounced, with markets outside the top ten accounting for over one-third of the total share, signaling the emergence of many new markets. This shift indicates a growing dispersion of China's photovoltaic exports, with a multitude of emerging markets gaining traction in the global solar industry.
